Specifically, legacy systems may be incompatible with security features surrounding access, such as multi-factor authentication, single sign-on and role-based access, or lack sufficient audit trails or encryption methods. Whatever the reason, these systems are unable to accommodate today’s security and privacy best practices.

Many legacy systems are stand-alone, and were never designed to integrate with other pieces of software, and are often incompatible with mobile devices. In today’s world, it is essential for software to work well with other systems in order to run effectively.
